Friday Randomness

Is it just me or can other people tell when Friday is here?  Coworkers seem to smile more (or scowl less), a little bit lighter on their feet and in conversation, and not as jerky as they have been on other work days. Also bosses aren’t as obtrusive (or is that obtuse?) and even a little antsy because they want to leave early (that’s always a good thing). Me? I’m always happy on Aloha Fridays but even more so today. It’s been a very good week on a few levels. Bathroom restoration is (almost) complete (this should be the last freaking day!!!), got to work from home  for part of this week because of it, and I shared a terrific lunch at Sab-e-Lee with a few fellow food bloggers.

I met up with Cathy and Kirk from mmm-yoso and Sawyer from Mother May I for lunch at Sab-e-Lee. I had a chance to try some dishes that I haven’t had before. I know I’ve written about Sab-e-Lee before, so I won’t go over all the details again. I’ll just leave you to drool over the pictures.

Panang Curry with Chicken. (loved it with steamed rice)

Phad-See-Ewe with Beef. (Delicious!)

Fish Cakes – Special of the Day (Chivey goodness, not like any fishcake I’ve had before)

Spicy Raw Beef (Koy Nua) (loved this one! probably my favorite of all the dishes)

Larb Grilled Duck (good duck flavor and probably my least favorite)

Uh, Fried Rice Dish (huh, what?? Someone will remind me. It was really good but then I love their fried rice dishes. Postscript: it was salted fish fried rice!)

Thanks Cathy, Kirk, and Sawyer for your wonderful company and sharing this great meal with me!

  1. Happy Friday! The duck tasted better as a leftover…but all the food was really great (especially dessert, which you provided). I am never disappointed at Sab-E-Lee. Great company! We must meet up more often. (P.S. It was chicken fried rice)

    • Happy Friday, Cathy! It’s not that I didn’t like the duck larb, it was just if I had to pick one that I liked the least, that was probably it. But like you said, never disappointed by their food. At least the dessert tasted better than it faired on the ride over, hehe! And absolutely we have got to meet up more often.

I’ll update the post to reflect it’s chicken fried rice. I just couldn’t remember what meat was in it. Thanks!

  2. damnit…my last comment didn’t post.

i realized that i should have taken a picture of your cupcake =) all the food was good…wish i had eaten more, but i had just had a big breakfast. otherwise there would not been as much leftovers. good seein you all!

    • Hey Sawyer! So have you been humming the song? hehe.

Those cupcakes were getting weepy and was more suited for eating than photographing. :-) I wish I had eaten more too but glad I didn’t because I would have been completed bloated later. I was really glad you were able to make it down. I had so much fun!
