Golden City

I always have a lot of fun sharing meals with fellow food blogger friends, especially when they are Kirk and Cathy of mmm-yoso, Dennis of A Radiused Corner, and Sawyer of Mother May I. Great company and trying new dishes, how good is that? On our most recent outing, we ended up at Golden City.

Golden City has been around for decades and has gone through several owners in that time. But they seem to always do well enough to keep the patrons coming back.  Kirk has done quite a few reviews since the new owners took over back in 2006. You can read about them here, here, here, and here. And Kirbie of Kirbie Cravings recently reviewed GC’s late night menu here.

Since there’s been so many write-ups on GC, I won’t go into details and just show what we ate.

Whew, boy was that a lot of food?  We certainly ate well that day!  The Mister and I have been back there since and one of our new favorite dishes is the Squid in Shrimp Sauce (sorry, no picture). We also tried the Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce but the sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Not bad, but I probably wouldn’t order it again unless someone wanted to have it.

The Mister and I are planning on coming back soon for dinner. He hasn’t had Peking Duck in a very long time so we’ll definitely be having that!

Have a terrific Aloha Friday and fantastic weekend!

Hey CAB – I had a blast! Hopefully, we’ll be able to do this again! BTW, happy Statehood Day!

Hi Kirk! Happy Statehood Day to you too! I completely forgot it’s the 50th anniversary. I know it’s a touchy subject for some. For us, it’s still an Aloha Friday and no work ’til Monday!

Thanks for the link! I’ve been looking forward to your post on Golden City. How fun to be able to enjoy good food with such good company! The duck looks delicious. I’ll have to get that next time.

Hey Cathy! Ooo, I bet we can get a panoramic shot of the entire table!

It was really good, wasn’t it? That cheese danish I brought back to work was gone in a matter of a few minutes!

Foot massage, we’re still waiting for a report on that from Sawyer. What say you, Sawyer???

hahaha. the massage was an hour long for 20 bucks, and was more of a full body massage while you soaked your feet in some chinese herb concoction. a good way to relax while “workin off” the food coma haha =p wish i had checked out that outlet after tho.

i thought it was a good massage..only my second time getting a prof. massage though, so i’m no expert. still, 20 bucks is pretty cheap.
