Hamburger Factory Family Restaurant

The Old Poway Park has gone through some renovations in the past couple of years. Some old stores, like Bisher’s Meats, have moved to other locations while some just closed their doors, while some new shops have moved in. But one thing that is still here is the Hamburger Factory Family Restaurant

The Mister and I stopped by last week to grab an early lunch. We got there just as they were starting to serve lunch (11 am). We got seated at a table right next to the Man of Steel.

I giggled when I saw him in the phone booth, not because it probably would have been better with Clark Kent ripping his shirt off but that this Superman had what appears to be a…mullet?? Or is it a cheap Rick Springfield knock-off hair cut? Of all the Supermans (men?) in my time, I don’t recall seeing a long-haired Superman, neither did the Mister. But then I really didn’t follow comic books after elementary school. So I had to look it up. Apparently in 1993, the story had Superman returning from a world under a red sun which rendered him powerless. This allowed his hair and beard to grow like that of a normal man. So when he returned (Return of Superman), he had long hair, blah blah. Enough nerdiness for one post!

Just one more shot of some of the novelty of Hamburger Factory.

Now back to the food. The Hamburger Factory also serves breakfast (hours at end of post) although we’ve never been here for breakfast (menu here).  I took some pictures of the menu but the light reflection pretty much ruined the shots. But you can find the lunch and dinner menu here.

The Mister has been craving blue cheese burgers lately so no surprise when he ordered the Bleuburger ($6.99). His burger came with a basket of fries.

As you can see, they don’t skimp on the blue cheese here, or the pickles! The Mister ordered it medium and said it was good, not dry. The fries were decent although nothing to extraordinary about them.

I couldn’t make up my mind as to which Chicken Basket to get ($7.49). The dine-in menu lists 3 options versus what the online menu states. You can actually get Buffalo style wings instead of fried chicken or chicken fingers. I chose the Buffalo style wings. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was really happy when this appeared.

It looked and tasted Buffalo style. I’m no Buffalo Wings expert but these had a nice crunch from the deep fry but was not overcooked, leaving the meat inside tender and juicy. I think the sauce might have even been Frank’s Redhot! With my own basket of fries, we had a lot of fries leftover.

The Hamburger Factory is a fun place to bring the kids (very kid friendly). And if you come on a weekend, the kids can take a train ride (targeting the little ones really), shop at the farmers market and craft fair, and maybe even look around the Poway historical museum.
