Just a quickie today. Villa Capri 2 is that neighborhood Italian bistro type restaurant that’s cozy yet trendy setting where you can get a decent meal. I’ve been to Villa Capri in Carmel Valley a few times for lunch since it was close to work. But I’ve also been to Villa Capri 2 with the Mister a few times for lunch. This is one of those times.
On this day, the Mister started with the Mozzarella Caprese ($6.95). The Mister hasn’t met a mozzarella caprese he hasn’t liked yet. I had to stop him in mid-cut so I can take a picture.
I decided to start with the Carpaccio de Salmone ($8). The salmon was fresh and I loved the combination of all the ingredients together. I haven’t met a carpaccio (beef or salmon) I haven’t liked yet, hehe.
For his entrée, the Mister ordered the Panino con Pollo Panini ($8.95). It’s grilled chicken breast, caramelized onions, eggplant, fontina cheese and roasted garlic aioli. I’ve enjoyed the same panini at the other location. Unfortunately on this occasion, the Mister thought the sandwich was a bit bland and not enough aioli.
I went with the ravioli, but I can’t remember the name of it. I think they were stuffed with cheese and topped with fresh tomato sauce. In all honesty, I love meat and mushroom type ravioli, not so much just cheese. So I’m not sure why I decided to get this because I didn’t enjoy them very much. The filling didn’t have a whole lot of flavor and the tomato sauce was a bit watery although very tomato-ey.
Overall, it was still an enjoyable meal with decent service. It’s what I would expect from a neighborhood Italian restaurant.

I’ve only been to Capri Blu (the one in 4S Ranch), but we thought that was pretty good. I had some creamy pesto ravioli… the ravioli filling was just okay but the sauce was delicious. The kind you want to lick off the plate. Mmm…
Hi Leanne! We’ve been meaning to try Capri Blue but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Maybe we’ll pop over for lunch soon and see how it compares to the Villa Capris.
Hi,
Love your posts.
I found your blog via Kirk and Kirbie’s blogs
My sis loves coming to Villa Capri. I wasn’t too impressed w/ their food (agree it’s a bit bland esp. w/ their entrees). But it’s a nice, quaint restaurant for the area.
Nice pics!
Hi Faye! Thanks for the kind words and for stopping by! I agree Villa Capri chains are those middle of the road quaint restaurants. I just wish they would beef up the flavor a bit.
